It's gettting hot out there... but never fear, as I have found the perfect summer drink... and you'll have a little french getaway in every bottle! (So magnifique if you're hanging around HK for the summer). This crisp, well balanced and refreshing tipple is the latest addition to the cider market...
It is truly amaaaazing (and extremely tasty) what the cute little apples used by La Chouette can do! Cider apples from Normandy, France to be exact... (and let me tell you, the French are very strict about their cider making process, and they have it down!) Most other cider producers use the 'ordinary' apple (and need to add sugar), making La Chouette anything but ordinary! These "cider apples" have a variety of tastes (sweet, bittersweet, sharp and bittersharp) so nothing else needs to be added, it's pure pressed apple juice that's now alcoholic (whooo hooot).
Speaking of hoooot... FUN FACT! Did you know La Chouette means The Owl in French? Back in the day, there were many a farmer making their own cider in the barn (now known as the man cave)... well the owls were often seen up in the barn roof, so the saying goes, that the owl has always looked after french cider (or maybe it was just stealing apples!?).
If you think Cider is a bit too main stream then think again! There is a wicked list of cocktails for you to try... my fave is the Mont-Saint-Michel:
7,5cl La Chouette
1cl Honey Syrup
* Combine the honey and calvados in a shaker filled with ice
* Shake and strain into a martini glass
* Top with chilled La Chouette cider
* Stir gently
* Drink happily and dream of France
I'll drink to that!
Cheers & have a fab summer with La Chouette Cider in hand.
