The Invisible Kitchen has saved the HK picnic (Hooray!) and made it so much more than a humble day out. Think elegant wicker basket (to keep), a delectable 7 (yes SEVEN) course picnic menu* (* read impressive canapes, sensational salads & sandwiches, gourmet mains, delights from the deli and of course a sweet finale'). Just choose the date, time and location (now now, don't get too carried away - no helicopter drop offs!), and HK's Gourmet Little Helpers will do the rest. Surprise a few friends (or just one in particular, wink wink) or perhaps create HK's biggest picnic for your next event... either way, everyone will be suitably impressed, relaxed, full and happy - all the elements of a perfect picnic!
Puja, from Dining At Home will do it all for you in her intimate private kitchen, with some pretty darn awesome Sindhi food (just bring the wine!). This is like Indian food you've never had before, focusing on depth of flavours, cooked traditionally, while adding her own flare (you'll be licking your plate)! And just like LBL, Dining at Home support local, independent businesses and buy fresh fruit and veg daily from quality wet market vendors. They will cater to your dietary preferences wherever possible (and don't worry, Puja's dishes aren't spicy, so you won't be doing the quickstep to the loo!). Book well in advance to avoid missing out on your seat at this sought after table.
With a passion for real food and finding truly healthy AND tasty chocolate impossible to find, Rawthentic Food decided to build their very own Hong Kong Chocolate factory, using cacao beans straight from the source and making the bars from scratch. The Raiz The Bar 'Oompaloompas' have been working busily to bring you their newly launched organic, cold-processed (for optimum nutritional value), single origin, small-batch, handcrafted and ethically sourced chocolate bars (complete with compostable packaging!). There are 6 very authentic, healthy and deeeelicious flavours and you also get some pretty sweet benefits, with 75% cold pressed cacao in every bar, plus the highest quality, nutrient-dense ingredients that will make you feel fabulous (and totally guilt free!).
%Arabica don't just roast their own coffee beans (to order), they grow their own coffee beans! That's right, they have their very own Kona coffee farm (just an excuse to travel to Hawaii I say ;-) ). %Arabica was partly influenced by their founder's (Kenneth) love of "exploring the world", so they also offer the very best coffee beans, sourced from around the globe (roasted to your perfection in 5minutes with their 'Tornado King'). The %Arabica team are so passionate about coffee, they have their very own in-house world champion latte artist (who can teach you the art of the latte heart). %Arabica also has the coolest coffee machine I've ever seen... Slayer Espresso! This machine is in a league of its own (and they'll even let you practice on it!). Now sssshhhh, leave me alone while I enjoy my (perfect) %coffee.
There is definitely something for everyone here, from family baking classics, artisan bread and breakfast favourites, to handmade pasta, french pastries and desserts, as well as Raw food. You WILL be getting your hands dirty too, this is not a watching class and you get to take home your creations (to share - if you want). The Mixing Bowl kitchen is also available for private hire (such a fab party idea... no food fights allowed!). So for the chef hiding in all of you, check out the schedule and get mixing... your family just might award you some of those fancy stars next time you cook!
There are sooooo many more wonderful, scrummy businesses I could have written about. Check them out in the LBL Directory under "Foodies & Drinkies" and "Eating Out (with a difference)".
Now I'm off to eat, drink and be merry...
